“Barranca Abajo”

Our 3er grade students, together with students from the theatre and cultural entertainers’ workshop, went to watch Florencio Sánchez “Barranca Abajo” (Downhill) play at the ACJ. The play is considered the most important work of this Uruguayan playwright. Written in the early XX century, the play tells the story of a farming family who faces the loss of its lands. The main character, Don Zoilo, is the centre of this traditional patriarchal family who suffers the consequences of the modernization Uruguay went through in the early stage of the past century.
